Better mood blogging.
Some good stuff from good liberals:
Both Peter Beinart and Michael Tomasky make truly excellent points in their Slate pissing match. Tomasky really hits the nail on the head regarding the problems that liberals who opposed the Iraq War from the start have accepting the Iraq liberal hawks back "into the liberal internationalist fold", and in a way I thought his original review was too churlish to adquately get across. (I especially love the part about how "punditry has consequences".) For his part, Beinart (not my favourite pundit), is tough and smart enough to make Tomasky improve on his original offering.
On a roughly similar topic, Mark Schmidt's piece on "The Myth of Scoop" made my toes curl with pleasure.
In Canadian political news, although the snotty McLeans link caused me to make rude gestures at my monitor (the Liberals aren't a national party anymore? wtf?), Cerebus is absolutely right that Joe Volpe needs to drop out of the Liberal leadership race. Not just becuase his corporate-kiddie fundraising snafu is embarrassing and unethical but because he sounds like he might be an Ignatieff mole. How else to explain his spectacularly dumbass ""very Republican-minded" remark after the leadership debate? Michael Ignatieff owns a dragon!*
And finally, via Brad Delong, this is an awesome post at yet another really good blog. I couldn't help thinking how appropriate it is in light of Jonah Goldberg's latest climate change column. Peter Beinart! Come back! We love you!
