Shake Hands with the Devil... the movie?
So they're making Shake Hands with the Devil -- which, in addition to being a very dense book and also the title of a documentary on Daillaire's 2004 return to Rwanda -- into a movie.
I'm intrigued. The interesting thing about Hotel Rwanda, in which a fictional (but rather un-Canadian) Dallaire also appears, is that there was almost no violence, or at least no gore. I wonder if the film adaption of Shake Hands will follow a similar course? Dallaire himself doesn't actually witness a lot of killing first-hand, even as he and the UN forces drive around Kigali and continuously force their through the Hutu roadblocks where people are being stopped and massacred. It'll be interesting to see.
