Freak Like Me meets a stiff challenge.
Connoisseurs of really bad pop music should read this Slate article, then go here to see what all the fuss is about.
In the sparest of my spare time (which is to say it's not a priority), I've been trying to put together a collection called, tentatively, The Dawg in Me: Songs for an Aesthetically Fallen Age, a collection of the worst pop songs of the era. (Anyone with suggestions feel free to leave them or email them.) My Humps most definitely makes the cut -- particularly for its little bits of faux-feminism ("You can look but you can't touch") at the end -- and do watch the video! In the final analysis though, it's not quite enough to knock Freak Like Me off its pedestal as the Worst Song Ever.

I find the word "freak" completely unsexy.
Calling somebody a "freak" is usually a pretty solid insult -- unless you're refering to the willingness to do it "any time of day; it's all good for me". That's what weird about the whole thing.
Nevertheless, there are a few good "freak" songs out there. Freak Like Me just isn't one of them (even though, as a former Essex Girl, I have a strange affection for it).
